Sundial House

Community

As you enter BackCountry you realize that no other new home community in Colorado is quite like this. This breathtaking, gated Shea Homes’ community is nestled in some of the last available land in Highlands Ranch, Colorado; land that borders 8,200 acres of untamed wilderness. One visit and you’ll see why BackCountry was recently awarded Community of the Year by the Homebuilders Association of Metro Denver.

Featuring a variety of home styles and price ranges -- from the low $300s to custom homes starting at $1.2 million – BackCountry is located close to the best that Highlands Ranch has to offer. Easy access to C-470 puts you minutes away from Highlands Ranch business parks, as well as Inverness, the Denver Tech Center, and other metro-Denver business hubs.

The exclusivity of BackCountry begins at the gated entry. Drive through the community and you will see a wide range of beautiful home styles to appeal to every taste, from luxury villas to custom luxury homes. While the architecture is varied, one design element is a constant — every home in BackCountry has been designed to take full advantage of the magnificent surroundings, with easy access to open spaces, a quiet afternoon in the park, or an adventure in the wilderness just steps away.

Much like the wilderness is welcomed into the community in BackCountry, the outdoors are welcomed into the homes. Traditional enclosures made by walls, roofs and fences are discouraged in favor of home designs that allow the outside to come in. Outdoor fireplaces, private balconies, atriums and terraces create a completely open environment, while large windows bring in plenty of natural light. Instead of being an enclosure where you hide away from the towering sky and the rustling trees, the homes in BackCountry are more like a gateway where you can interact with them as much or as little as you like.

BackCountry is really a cluster of unique, small neighborhoods, adding to the intimacy and shared experience of living in such a special place. Natural waterways course through the community. And best of all, many homes back to open space, offering a private environment inside and astonishing access to the natural world outside.

We have said BackCountry was “years in the planning and centuries in the execution.” And once you see just how different this community is from any other, we think you’ll agree.

Corridors of open space bring nature into the neighborhood, so you and your family can step outside and relax in the shade, splash across a waterway and kick a soccer ball in one of the parks. Or take to the winding trails that meander through BackCountry, to spend the day exploring your private 467 acres of wilderness.

Whatever you want to do with your free time in BackCountry, chances are you’ll find it right outside your door.

Wine Tasting at BackCountry
BackCountry’s wine enthusiasts enjoyed a delightful and educational evening at the recent Wine Tasting Event at the Sundial House. The heart of Casa Vinicola Zonin is located in Gambellara, Italy, in the province of Vicenza, the ancestral home of the Zonin family. It is here in Italy that one finds the roots of the family’s history as ‘ Vintners since 1821.” BackCountry residents enjoyed sampling wines from, Gianni Zonin, a seventh generation winemaker, and his ten estates in seven prestigious regions in Italy.
